First week

My first week in America was amazing. Last week I volunteered besides the school work and we took poor children for a nice day out. We had so much funn and the kids we're soo ncie and even started calling me 'mom'.
I wanted to post more updates this week but my camera wasn't connecting to my laptop. Even now.. I took a lot of beautifull pictures and I will try to post them as soon as my camera connects. Last week I went to a lot of places in DC and helped at the Fitzgerald elementary school in Washington in a class with very special kids:
Childeren who weren't doing well in learling, childeren with down syndrom, and childeren who weren't diagnosed yet. Fist I was a bit nervous about theaching them. But when I came in, I was sooo suprised. Most of the kids were looking very normal and healthy and the other two with down syndrom we're soooooo adorable and sweet. I was more suprised to find out that these kids we're the 'high functionals' in the classroom. Actually all kids we''re pretty smart. They could count to 100, write eachothers name, and most important: listen. We hugged eachother every monring, during the day and before going home. I found out that these kids weren't needing love but enjoyed giving love!! They spoiled me with lovely words and liked to hug me a lot. The most interessting was that during my days there I learned sign signals. The children could talk and hear but they got used to it because of a old classmate. I learned signals such as: stand up, sit down, please, thank you, yes, no and line up. This week I am going to explore more of America. Wednesday I'm going to Pensylvania and on Friday I will travel to New York. After the weekend I'm going back to Woodbrdge and help/volunteer again at the Fitzgerald school because the teacher really wanted me to come back again. After that I will have some time for my self and 4 days later I'll be back in Holland!
